A subject test score in the 600s

On a scale of 1-10, how bad is it? 1 would probably be “nothing to worry about!” while a 10 is probably “the worst thing ever!” I want to know if I should be concerned about this or not. Thanks

It depends on the test and where it falls in the 600s. A 600 on the Math II for an aspiring engineer or CS student wouldn’t cut it. A 690 on Lit for the same student would be different.

Not great, considering the schools that tend to want the scores. If you are hooked you might get away with it.

@intparent What would be classified as a “hooked” student?

@mamaedefamilia let’s say it’s a nursing or psychology student with a 630 on US history, a 680 on Bio E, and 720 on Lit for as a hypothetical example. The hypothetical example is based on me, but not actually me. Like, what determines if a score is good or bad?

IMO, the 720 in lit is very good, 630 I would retake or not report, and 680 is borderline.

URM and recruited athletes are the biggest ones. Legacy can help, but generally not as much unless your legacy relative is a huge donor.

You can Google to find percentile tables from College Board for scores. General thinking is that you want at least a 700, no matter what the subject.
