A thank you letter?

Should I write a letter or e-mail to the admission officers expressing my gratitude or will this only waste their time? Is it common practice to write thank you letters?

Send one if you feel the need to send one. I doubt they’d be expecting one, but I’m pretty sure it wouldn’t be a waste of their time to read a thank you.

Think about it: doesn’t it make you feel better about something you did when you receive thanks for it?

You should send a really expensive arangement of flowers, a box of chocolates, or something similar. It’s common courtesy.

Ha, admission officers sure hope so. But of course, they did a great job sustaining the reputation of Chicago and they do deserve it. Only if my wallet is full…

When I got in EA, I sent both my interviewer (an adcom) and Dean O’Neill (my adcom, I’m from Manhattan) Christmas/thank you cards and Dean O’Neill sent me one back! I really just wanted to say thank you and express my gratitude for them being them and, well, giving me the chance to go to Chicago. But it’s not necessary, by any means. Up to you.
