<p>I was going to write about personality change and how for example, my drive to learn about science actually came from a childhood desire to build my own castle, how that desire came from a hatred of small rooms and a love of secret passages, because when I was really young, I was confined to a bed for an illness – I hated my room. I wanted to remark how about how that drive remains, having led me to become fascinated with non-Euclidean geometry as well as building proteins, even though I don’t really desire to build my own castle anymore.</p>
<p>I just had to make an aside about a political parallel (the mechanics of power: how Stalin ended up purging the Old Bolsheviks even though they had created the original Revolution), but went on such a tangent that I decided to fork it instead. </p>
<p>Does anyone want to offer some thoughts? I was wondering what topic it would fall under as a common app essay (#2 or #5?), or maybe a UVA essay, though it’s about 600 words. It’s not really an ideal essay for me, since it reflects nothing about me personally, or my migration history and my thoughts on culture (which I want to write about), but more choices are always better. And of course, you can offer thoughts about my other essay topic too.</p>
