A Threshold SAT Score?

Is there a particular SAT score, after which it doesn’t really matter? I’m talking about schools like Harvard and Stanford. Does it make sense to retake a 2280? Is retaking a 2320 and getting a 2350 worth it?
I know there is no definite answer, but some input from you all would be nice. Thanks!

There is no difference between a 2320 and a 2350. Rule of thumb: any scores within 30-50 points of each other (unless they cross a hundred’s threshold, although exceptions are made starting high 2200’s) are the same. Retaking anything higher than 2320 (this is a good threshold) is just a waste of a Saturday morning.

got a 34 on ACT and was told over and over that getting a 35 wouldnt make a difference. Now was rejected ED to penn, and who knows if that would have made a difference for me. I would say retake it just to have no regrets.

I agree with @camrun. If you have the option to retake, go for it. It might not make a difference, but it could.

Penn doesnt like to see multiple tests.

@camrun You were more likely rejected for other reasons besides your test scores.

OP, retake if you want, but retaking scores that high may result in dropped scores if you aren’t on point during test day.

I agree with @basedchem . You can retake if you want, but if your scores drop, it will look really bad for colleges where you have to submit all your test sittings. It will also end up becoming a complete waste of time for you.
