A Tough Call

I have already applied to a handful of colleges, but I am seriously considering taking a year off and applying to Yale, Stanford, MIT, and Princeton. Of course, I will include a few safeties in the mix. What are my chances of being accepted?

SAT I
-Verbal- 800
-Math- 760
-Writing- 790

SAT II
-U.S. History-760
-Math IIC- 740
-Physics- 770

Grades
-4.0 Unweighted
-6 A.P.'s (School offers 7 or 8)
-School has no ranking, but I would be at the top

Extracurriculars
-National Honor Society
-Head Representitive of Student Council
-HOBY Youth Leadership Conference
-Track
-Academic Bowl State All Star
-Going to attend Panasonic Academic Challenge in the summer
-News Director of the school radio station
-100+ Hours working with special ed kids

If I did take a year off, I would work on beefing up my extracurricular resume.

i see so many threads like this. the process is holistic. academically you pass a threshold to get in these places, but everything will depend on your essay and recs. “chances” is a meaningless term for this issue.

i got in, my ECs were strikingly similar to yours, but a little inferior, and i was a little better on the academic side, and i got in, but i know at least 3 people who were my academic equals and had far superior ECs who didn’t
