Hi every one! I am a high school junior from China. Our school has a express admission program to North Carolina State U. I am wondering if a transfer to Chapel Hill from NCSU will be likely? Are there many such examples? Thanks!

If you do well in your first year at NCSU you should have a good chance of transfering to Chapel Hill. By then you might not want to though:)

Chapel Hill tends to look kindly on transfers. Do very well at NC State your first semester and you should be in strong shape. UNC is one of the best college experiences in the country, so good luck.

Yeah NCSU has a really nice campus!

slipper1234: Thanks! Statistics from the official website of UNC say each year they admit some 1000 transfers. Among them how many would you say are from NCSU approximantely?

Don’t know where your interests lie. A transfer to Chapel Hill takes you to stronger programs in the humanities and social sciences. But NC State is where you want to be if your goals lie in engineering or the applied sciences - strong programs across the board with lots of connections to industry, many located on the Centennial campus itself (about 1200 acres with about 60 companies/agencies based there).
Education is not nearly as important as prestige in China. Prestige and connections will get you a job.

NCState’s solid but nowhere near MIT/Cal level engineering won’t impress domestically and abroad in China.
