A US citizen in Italy having problems with filling in Common App questions

I logged in the other day to start filling in the info I already have (ethnicity, family situation, school, etc.), but I came across two main problems. I need to list all my courses, but classes like algebra, geometry, etc., are taught at my school under mathematics, while the app categorizes them separately as different courses. I’m confused about how to log them.
The second problem is that a school counselor is needed to submit the letters of recommendation, school report, etc., but my school doesn’t offer one.
Please help! Thank you

Reach out to your schools of interest and ask them your questions because ultimately you need to meet their desires.

Maybe / maybe not - a video online would help - I didn’t watch.

And you can always contact the common app team for help.

HOW TO FILL THE COMMON APP FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS 1

The Common App resets every August 1, so don’t waste your time filling it out just yet as much of what you’re filling in may be lost anyways.

Regarding letters of rec, ask you current school how they handle those.

On the Courses and Grades section you can choose “Math (Other)” for each math class, if your math curriculum doesn’t teach these subjects separately. My kids attend a HS that has an integrated math curriculum where each math course is just labeled Math 1, Math 2, Math 3 etc., and they are using the “Math (Other)” category for each one.

Adding…make sure you need to complete the Courses and Grades section before you take the time to do that! A majority of common app schools don’t use/require this section.

Separately, these are the sections that will rollover when the new common app is available on Aug 1:

Your college list and any questions you answer on the ‘Common App’ tab will rollover next year - when you’re ready to apply - so you can begin answering questions in these seven sections: Profile, Family, Education, Testing, Activities, Writing, and Courses & Grades.

You would need to have your prima/secunda/terza Prova marks + the colloquiale with the diploma di licenza media (hopefully for you, 7+).
Then each level of liceo - you will have to approximate:
Typically scuola media covers Algebra1, geometry, and elementary statistics (integrative math 1&2), as well as biology, physical science and technology, plus 2 years in one of French/German/Spanish/Latin - all of that would be reported.
Then you report liceo classes year by year. The “weight” gives the reader an idea but they’ll check your actual transcript. So, if liceo scientifico, your HLs are Math and Science. If liceo linguistico, your HLs are Italian Language and Literatures A, English B, and a third language. Etc etc.
It will be clear for the adcoms that you attend a liceo.
