A wonderful thank you from daughter

today my 21 year old daughter called to thank me for making her work for our family business when she was old enough to do so. It’s not like I didn’t realize the sacrifices she made , as well as her sisters have , but it was nice to hear why…turns out a few of her sorority sisters have been cut off financially for spending too much money , or not keeping up with grades…she is glad to see that we didn’t just hand everything to her , she had to work for her goals and I made her save all of her money. When she was old enough to drive , we set up a debit account for gas money ( which came from her earnings ) and never gave her a credit card. she has been responsible for paying her own utilities and other expenses too.
I am wondering if she secretly harbored resentment for our lack of spoiling , but either way, I am proud to hear that she now appreciates what we expected of her
A proud moment for this mother :D

Nice going. It is always nice when your kid acknolwedges your “job well done.” She sounds like a great kid. She must know how much you love her.

Thanks oldfort… I think she does now that she is getting a little older…one thing she said to me was that no matter how much money she makes someday , she will never hand everything over to her kids and she will make them work for it…clearly has not hurt mine

What a wonderful post … you should be so very proud!

lje - I think you have done a lot right and it’s so nice that she appreciates it. You and your D both sound great.

I am very impressed. There is no greater gift that we can give our child than a work ethic. Ya done good!
