AA in General Studies-to Elementary Education need a school HELP!

I will be graduation from a local community college in Maryland with an Associates degree in General Studies. I want to get my BA in Elementary Education. My problem is, is that it seems that I have to have an AA in Elementary Education. I need either a college that is online or towson or st. marys college. ANY ADVICE?

It is not necessary to complete an AA in Elementary Education. The only CCs in Maryland that do are Allegany and Cecil. You can use the MHEC website search engine to find all of the BA Elementary Education programs in Maryland.

[Find a Program Search Results](http://www.mhec.state.md.us/utilities/results_major.asp?T1=elementary+education&D1=Bach&submit=+++Search++)

Contact the transfer admissions office at each of these places about your situation, and
use [A Little help here, Please](http://artweb.usmd.edu/) to determine which of them will accept more of your transfer credits.

Online is not a good choice for a BA in Education. You need a live program that will get you into a lot of different classrooms to observe and complete practical training activities. Arranging that sort of thing is very difficult in online programs.

Unless you’ve already taken some Education courses in community college, your problem will likely be that two years at a four year college will not be enough time to complete all the classes and student teaching required for a BA in Elementary Ed. That’s the problem my D ran into when she wanted to change to an Ed major in the middle of her sophomore year in college–it just couldn’t be done in the time she had left (and that’s why she’s currently working on a masters degree). I agree that you need to talk to transfer admissions folks at each school that interests you to see how you can make this work. Taking some additional classes at your community college beyond those needed for your AA may be the low-cost solution.
