I wanted to start a new thread to make it easier for others to share their thoughts and learn more about this.
I commend all these schools for having the courage and the commitment to participate in this service and to then share not only aggregate but some school specific results, showing that their concern for the welfare of their students exceeds their concern about possibly negative publicity. I appreciate the leadership that the AAU showed in this.

If you are considering applying to any of these, you might want to ask if they have other surveys that they’ve done and shared. I know that MIT, Rutgers, Princeton, and the UC’s have.

Hmmm…27 universities and 150,000 students is a pretty good-sized response. Is the theory that one should choose a college based on the range of sexual assault rates as presented in this survey, or that there might be some as yet undiscovered outlier school at which exists a significantly worse problem?
It was not a randomized sample of schools. I thought some students might want to choose to go to a school that is concerned about sexual misconduct at their school and taking action. The general public or policy makers might be most interested in their national trends and data. Applicants and their families might be most interested in choosing a school that is concerned and taking actions to address this problem more than sticking their heads in the sand.
Sexual misconduct occurs at nearly every college. Choosing a school based on their sexual misconduct surveys is ridiculous.
@mommaknowsbest, what do you recommend considering that does not happen at all colleges? Most everything of the things people are looking for or to avoid happens at all colleges.
