AB or BC

My school has recently allowed us to take a diagnostic test over the summer to decide whether or not we can skip Calculus AB and go on to BC. The test is in August, so I am currently deciding whether or not to choose this option. What are your opinions?

Definitely take the diagnostic test to skip to BC.

Take the test…

You don’t “skip” AB, the AB material is still all covered in BC.

Yeah, ^Pancaked is right. But yes, take the test anyways.

Take the test for sure. Try to get placed i BC, as it does cover Calc A and isn’t that much more difficult than AB in terms of the material.

Calc B is the hardest to me–Calc C isn’t a big deal.

^ What? 10char

^
Don’t you love when people think the way their school teaches Calculus is the same as every other school?

^Who is thinking that?

Thanks for the replies guys, I’ll attempt the diagnostic. Shouldn’t be too hard.

Why wouldn’t you take it? o.0

Well I don’t really like the people in BC and people in AB have been in my class for years, so that sort of impacted my decision.

Calc CD is way harder than BC though, but atleast you don’t have to take that stupid exam at the end of the year.

^*** is Calc CD?

You don’t even need most of the stuff in CD for higher level courses. I’d skip CD and go right to Calc DE; the useful stuff from CD+ new things that will make Calc F muuuuch easier.

Yeah but the stuff in calc CD is covered on the SAT subject test for math IV, and God forbid you don’t get an 800 on that…

Solution, don’t take Math IV, Take MathIII:C and call it a day. Adcoms say that is by far the most important SATII anyway.

Calc AB average grades are A and B
Calc BC average grades are B and C

Jk I had to post that.
BC is easy though, no sweat… Until the Taylor Series section, then you need to study hardcore

800 on the MathIV is only 60%tile, and I think Calc DE will suffice for an 800.

lmao at all the comments with the different Calcs.

OP: I would take the exam.
