Contrarian view here…as the parent of a daughter who developed young, I was THANKFUL for the miniscule amount of “padding” (a lining, really) in her size 28AA bra. She needed some extra layers to cover what all of her friends didn’t have going on, but she did! It was an effort to cover, not enhance. Think about that for a minute before judging the “padded” bra. Now, if it was a pushup, VS style bra, ok, that is inappropriate.

I do, however, have a problem with the sheer, nearly see-through tshirts that young girls wear. All the more reason for a nice, sturdy bra! ;-)

To update–the “Ashley” padded bikini is no longer sold on the Abercrombie Kids web site, just the Lindsay “lightly lined” one.

I can’t see my mother buying me a bikini at that age, padded or not. I wouldn’t have asked, but she would have said, “Don’t you think you should wait until you have something to put in it?” And then when I was a teenager she wouldn’t have thought it appropriate either. You can’t swim in one without fear of losing it, and that’s why you go to the pool, isn’t it? ;)

I understand skinny 14-year olds may wear 28AA, but this bikini was for sale on Abercrombie Kids. I think Abercrombie was marketing sexy to kids, and went over the line.
