Ability to change housing

I just received my housing letter, and my residence hall (one that I was not expecting) is on the west side of campus and all of my classes are on the east side of campus. So is it possible to to switch residence hall? I know you have 10 days to cancel your contract. Plus, I read on facebook people talking about their roomates switching.

Unlikely. Housing is assigned based on when you applied for it. If you applied much later than Oct 1 you probably didn’t get your first or second choice.

However, for the true answer you will have to contact housing as I nor (probably) anyone else on CC will be in a position to tell you definitively.

I am confident a call or email to Housing as Beast suggests, will be returned quickly.

I also think there is a Facebook site where someone from Housing posts responses very quickly (not sure, but I remember this was the case last year for incoming freshmen).

BTW, Burge, Currier and Stanley fill up very early, so changing may not be easy. That said, the walk from Hillcrest, Rienow and Slater is really not that far to most classes, (compared to many other B10 campuses) - although a -30 wind chill makes any walk seem long!

Basically everyone classes is on the east side of campus. Also it is for the most part a easy walk and lots of public transportation.
