DS got accepted to 2-2 at the Abington campus for Biomedical Engineering. We have no clue about the campus or how the transfer to the main campus works. Any idea? I tried searching online but did not find any information. Any insight is appreciated.
Is that after reconsideration?
Are you in state or out of state?
What are her stats?
The campus is small and mostly commuter.
The 2+2 is that you take your pre-reqs and if you pass your classes + get required grades in specific classes (ie., a C in calculus is the minimum accepted grade) you move to UP.
But if you’ve not asked for reconsideration yet it’s what you should do as a carefully selected new major+summer start can lead to UP admissions.
Or at least request a full 4-year campus (Behrend, Altoona, Harrisburg).
Thank you for your reply. We are OOS (VA).
1410 SAT
3.74 W GPA
4 APs
Major is Biomedical Eng.
Heartbroken not to be part of the Penn Main campus. She is reaching out to the admission office if they would reconsider. But looks like a long short.
For OOS, I agree that Abington is less than ideal. She can ask for reconsideration but chances probably aren’t high, but one never knows.(agree with Myos’ points about strategically choosing major and being open to summer start at UP)
Does she have acceptances she is excited about?
Thank you so much! I truly appreciate your time and help.
Not to be a jerk but it is Penn State University or PSU not UP or Penn.
I was using UP to mean University Park campus, although I do understand your point.
Reconsideration means you request another major and with summer start.
Biomed engineering is one of the most competitive majors even within COE which itself is very competitive.
Why biomed engineering - would she appreciate a medical-related major like BioBehavioral Health (premed, pre psychologist…) or would environmental engineering or gas/oil engineering be of interest?
UP= Main campus of Penn State (university park/state college)
I understood you were referring to the main campus as UP. She has VCU and Temple as an option but hear heart was set for Penn… Sometimes things happen for the best.
