So the essay topic is about history, what is it, who is telling it, and what aren’t “they” telling us. I’m talking about bias throughout history. This brings me to the topic about if I should write about Pokemon. I know, it’s a very informal topic but the game is a very good example of this as the pokemon emerald and saphire I believe take different viewpoints, one saying that team aqua is good and the other saying that team magma is doing the good point. This could tie in with bias and is a CONCRETE example of history being different. Or is there a better way.

If you can write it well, then go for it.

Remember that is not an analytical essay though; show them how you think, but don’t get lost in your discussion. Show them why bias in history matters to you. This is also UChicago - examples are good, though it’s ok not to talk about concrete terms. I wrote my uncommon essay last year on probably the most abstract, self-referential, epistemological topic I could coherently contemplate, and it worked not because it was quirky or far out, but because it showed that I was really passionate about what I was writing about.

Wait is it supposed to be informal because I put strictly logical arguments with strict typical essay format of not using “you, me” blah blah and had no talks about me as a person as I could be writing a very emotional filled argument with how ridiculous this bias is and how people are purposefully trying to cover something up and how they don’t get the two sides of every fight with tons of misunderstood people in history and history books being the “white mans record” with tons of racism and **** against the blacks and stuff. If I could write that I might.

^To be honest, I don’t think that they are looking for any specific Essay form, or way in which you should approach the question. Like ramboacid said, they are simply looking for you to show them how/what you think, who you are, what you bring to the table, etc. (Anything really). They’re such open ended questions that you can take them anywhere you want to.

Alright awesome. Well time to rewrite my essay again :X lol
