Hi, I’m currently a 11th grader, and my school just introduced a series of Naviance lectures. Since this is very new to me and also my class, I would like to know if anyone can tell me some pros and cons about the lesson or this is not very well-known in US or other counties. Also, I would like to know if making digital portfolio is a very common thing that every applicants do. Thanks!
My D’s school used Naviance and students had weekly meetings with their college counselor during senior year, but I am not familiar with “Naviance lectures” if that is something more specific.
Naviance and guidance from counselor was very helpful, although frankly in our case, I (the mother) logged onto Naviance much more than my daughter. I was more actively involved in the college search than some parents and my D was less interested in the analytical/search part of the process. We have great financial need so that was a big factor in figuring out suitable colleges. D took the ball and ran once the college list was determined.
My D did an art portfolio. I don’t think it’s common at all except for students who really have something to showcase in an area like art or music.
