About Waiting List

<p>I have been placed on waiting list by Uchicago, Upenn and Johns Hopkins U. Does anybody have clue when will I know my final result of the applications to these three schools? Thanks for replying!</p>

<p>Yes,I replied offically to them online that I would like to remain on the waiting list. I even sent them additional information and got their reply of receiving.</p>

Reason for Wait List “waves”</p>

<p>I am sure this is obvious to many, but this occurred to me and thought I would share it. There are waves of wait list acceptances:</p>

<p>First wave: schools that under enroll, intentionally, or unintentionally. At the time of the first wave, any school that announces they are not going to their wait lists are probably comfortably or heavily over-enrolled. This all happens in the first week or two after May 1.</p>

<p>Second wave: schools that were “on the edge” but had withdrawals sufficient to cause under-enrollment during the first wave. This typically should start in the middle of May to June.</p>

<p>Third wave: the loosest of all; drips and drabs of adjustments that can continue until AFTER school starts in August/September.

<p>Most colleges will officially send you a letter usually by the end of June or July stating that their class is full and that they are no longer taking students on the waitlist.</p>
