I heard that AP scores can be reported via tape load but I am not sure what tape load is. Could anyone help me please? Thank you !

No idea what that is. When you apply to schools you can self report AP scores on the applications. When you enroll in a school, notify College Board, pay a fee and they will send official AP scores to your school. That is all you need to do.

Just self-report. If you pay CB a fee to send an official score report, they’ll submit an electronic file to the college of your choice, but I doubt it is tape anymore.

No college requires AP scores for admission. A few will actually accept AP scores in lieu of SATs and thus if you choose to go that route with those particular schools you obviously have to have College Board send the offical scores. Otherwise, if you want a school to know your AP scores you can just self-report them, in an additonal info space if one is in the application or in an essay.

Thank you all for the responses!
Drusba, could you please name a few schools that accept AP scores in lieu of SATs? Thank you!

If you’re taking any AP exams during your senior year, provide the name of the college you’ll be attending while taking the exam(s). Collegeboard will then send all your AP scores (including those from previous years) to your college during the summer.

I can’t remember if you’ll need the college’s code number, or if the exam proctor will have the codes available. Does anyone know?

@mom2collegekids - Usually on the day of the AP, one has access to their AP Student Pack, which lists a bunch of colleges and their corresponding codes within it.
