About what national percentile is a 2160??

I got a 2160 (M 730, CR 670, W 760)

About where does this place me in the national percentile??
I was thinking about atleast top 90%, but I don’t know

Good question, I would also like to know. Congrats on the 2160, i personally think that is what the really really smart people who dont feel like making 2400’s get. 770V 710M 680W

i agree. the overachievers get 2400 and the incredibly smart but non-OCD people aim for 2160-2250. it’s like getting an A- when you could easily earn an A is you wanted it.

2200 and up – 99th percentile
2100 – 98th percentile
2000 – 95th percentile
1900 – 90th percentile
1800 – 82th percentile
1700 – 71th percentile
1600 – 60th percentile
1550 – 50th percentile

From About.com

thanks for scouting that out

Was that the percentile for a single test date or overall? That seems too be too high, or maybe I’m wrong about that. Incase that is the overall national percentile, wouldn’t a score of 2100 be good enough (as in you don’t have to worry about SAT scores) when applying to Ivy Leagues and other top tier schools?

it seems to me, that those sat percentiles mean that you are competing against the top percentiles when applying for college. i.e. you compete against people within the top 1 or 2 percentile to get into ivy’s. imo.

99th will be about 2190; 98th about 2160. 2100 is basically a 1400, which I believe was only around 95-96th.

i got 2160 also

go 2160 er’ssssssss

690 math / 700 CR / 770 writing

yea, 1400 was 95-96. But now you have to get a 700 on another section, so a 2100 is better than a 1400.

The relevant numbers are CR and M, so don’t ask about the 2400 scale. W doesn’t matter at most good schools for admission purposes, just placement,

…eh? 2200 is 99th percentile?.. when did that happen

Wow, can we start a 2160 club? That’s definitely the score I got. I went up 20 points in math (which I studied super hard for) and 50 points in writing (which I didn’t study hard for because my earlier score was fine already… so though I’m ecstatic for a higher score, it bothers me that the one I put the most effort into got a smaller result).

I also agree with earlier comments about not being OCD on the test. I studied hard, with books and online tips, etc. But I never got a tutor or went to SAT classes, because after a certain point, there’s only so high that you personally can score, and no class or tutor can change that.

I myself was surprised to see the new percentiles. A score that’s roughly 2200 is 99th percentile according to other SAT preparation companies. 2100 is apparently 98th percentile.

These numbers were statistically derived, taking into consideration that a 1550 is in the 50th percentile for the new SAT.

This is great, I’m going to start a 2160 club soon…

Anyways, does anyone know what the ACT exquivalent of a 2160 is??
I was thinking a 32 or 33

I feel like about misunderstood percentile, so those numbers are really one percentile too high, but here’s the article.

http://collegeapps.about.com/od/sat/a/SATscoring.htm

Those percentiles dont look way off, you guys should realize that a 2100 is much harder to achieve than a 1400, hence, a 2100 would have a higher percentile…duh

I don’t believe about.com because as of now, no one knows how the writing part of the test breaks down in terms of percentiles. The College Board says that cr and m can be compared to the old SAT I, but the writing part of the new SAT cannot be directly compared to the old SAT II writing.

Meanwhile, a lot of colleges are not factoring in the writing part of the new SAT I at all this year as the colleges analyze the test to see what it means. Therefore, the overall percentage may not matter that much. What will matter for most colleges is the cr, m scores.

I’ve got a 2200, so do i need a retake? i saw the percentile and was quite pleasantly surprised, thought 99 percentile should be 2300+.
the only reason i was thinking of retaking is that my scores are M-790
W-770 and CR-640!! if i only studied CR for next time and got about 700, i’d be better off. any ideas?

i got 2140! :frowning: can i join the 2160 club anyway? hehe
