Above-average, good value, or "hidden gem" pre-med schools?

My friend is looking to study biology, but her scores aren’t that great so I am wondering what options she has in terms of undergrad education.

She has a 4.0 at a pretty bad school and about a 1700 SAT, which might rise anywhere from 1800 to 2000 (not sure).

What are some good match schools in this range? (Specifically for biology or pre-med).

So far I have

-UCSD (bit of a reach)
-University of Washington
-University of Wisconsin-Madison

Any help? Thanks

I personally think Case Western is a hidden gem- plus they give really good financial aid.

tell her to try the ACT…she should work on raising test scores if there is time…

i really would recommend our joint science department shared by claremont mckenna, scripps, and pitzer if your daughter is really interested in bio and premed
lucky for her, she can apply to all three

How about all-woman colleges? Schools such as Bryn Mawr, Smith, and Mount Holyke all have excellent science programs and have sent a large percentage of graduates to medical schools. These schools are also generous with financial aids.

University of Scranton or Muhlenberg College ¶
