Hello guys,

I am an international student as some of you know from Greece and I am writing this post regarding the attitude of Penn State on absences. Here in Greece we have a total limit of 120 absences (by the law) 60 of them that can be justified (by parents) and 60 of them unjustified. If you are under the 120 limit you graduate normally without any problems, if you need to do more than the 120 you need to be in a serious medical condition etc.

But let me explain something here, If you fill ill and you have to leave school lets say the 3 last hours you get 3 unjustified absences even though they know you are ill, that’s how the system works here.

So if I am under the 120 limit will I have problems with Penn State? (I have heard that if you have a lot of absences they can take back their acceptance offer, at the time I have around 5 unjustified -left due to feeling bad- and 18 justified)

P.S. if you get out of class because you are causing a problem to the teacher it counts also as an unjustified absence but you also get them if you leave due to illness as I explained above. So having some unjustified absences isn’t that bad here.
