So I recieved my rejection letter from Northeastern, and I am completely speechless; I thought NU was considered a safety, considering I am in a top NYC HS. I perhaps overestimated myself, because I have very little EC and my recs aren’t neccessarily the best. My GPA is also rather lacking, only a 85 with a weighted average.

So here are my stats and please tell me what are my chances

1970 super score 790 math 580 reading 600 writing
690 Physics (I just… overestimated myself so I slept)
720 US history
4 on AP Physics 3 on AP US
Little EC
This year jumped from Trig right into BC Cal and have a 1-9 no lunch with 3 APs and PLTW classes
Large upward trend with my averages
In the “Aerospace Major” in BTHS, so comes to no surprise I applied for Aerospace Engineering

I don’t really know what to tell you. I was accepted to NU but I applied early action. (3.9 GPA 29 ACT Really good EC) Its really a toss up for you. You never really know with colleges these days. A lot of schools have been getting record amounts of applications.

You should get in or at least freshman connection. I was 1900 700 m.650 r 550 w. Got into civil engineering fall semester.90 gpa and a lot of community service and ec

I’m not an aerospace engineer, but i’ve got a few friends in the program.
That reading score is not going to cut it. Also your GPA is nowhere near the where most students are. One of my friends had a 1580 and got no money. (Mostly A’s, couldn’t tell you out of a hundred because it’s not something we talk about, and way more AP’s) He’s from New Jersey.
My other friend from Maryland got a lower SAT, higher grades, more Aps, has worked for an engineering lab for years and still got no money.
Both were honors though.
It’s one of the most intense programs in the country. It’s going to sound harsh but since you weren’t priority (judging from the fact that you don’t know if you got in yet) I’d say letters and sciences at best. (Unless you can get accepted to the engineering school without a concentration, not sure about that though)

Money isn’t the bigest concern for me; getting in is. I thought jumping from trig to AP Cal BC would look nice but you guys seem to believe it doesn’t mean as much as I thought it would. I only have 3 APs, but it takes up 5 periods of my 9 period schedule and 2 periods are devoted to aeronautics which is a PLTW class… if that actually helps at all.

fwiw, you are admitted to the university before you are admitted to the college itself, so you could get into umd without being accepted to aerspace engineering…just sayin

I would say you could get in priority, but since you didn’t apply priority I’m much more hesitant. I think you might squeeze into Letters and Sciences. (You did apply to the hardest major though) But Freshman connection/spring admit is more likely. I couldn’t put a number on it of course, but that’s judging from past years/stats of friends.
