This is your periodic reminder that the deadline to sign up for health insurance for 2018 has been changed. You have to sign up by December 15, in most states.
Prices are wacky this year. Don’t let yourself be auto-enrolled without checking prices for other plans. You might be able to save money by switching to a different insurer, or by switching to a different metal level with your current insurer.
This year, many subsidized people are getting free Bronze plans, or cheap Gold plans. The cutoff for subsidies is a little higher this year, so you might be eligible for subsidies this year, even though you weren’t eligible last year. Or you might be able to re-jigger your income to make yourself eligible.
