Academic Common Market & scheduling classes?

I’ll be attending UT knoxville in the fall as an out of state student. In order to get instate tuition, I’m doing the academic common market. (for those who don’t know what that is, its a progam where if they dont offer a major in your home state that UT knoxville has, they give you in state tuition to come to UTK and do the major.)

The only thing is, I want to be a poli sci major, but instead I’m majoring in advertising.
Apparently in college your first two years are mostly gen ed courses, so here’s my question:

how should i go about picking my classes so I wont fall behind in poli sci??

You may want to do a double major if that is available. If possible, take five classes, although that may be challenging at first. You can end up doing electives and stuff for your major. Also, gen eds may be done through a community college during the summer in your home state.
