Academic or Technical Majors?

The Community College I’m applying for online asks me to choose “Academic” or “Technical Majors”, what do these two mean; and more importantly, what should I choose, as this will be my first time going to college.

Technical programs are generally aimed at non-degree students taking skill-based classes, such as auto mechanics, welding, etc. If you plan to pursue an associate’s degree and/or transfer to a four-year college, you want the academic track.

Look at tthe courses that are listed for those two tracks. Which ones are you the most interested in taking? Unless there is a specific technical track you are eying, it makes sense to choose the academic track which is usually where most kids need to start to get their base courses. Most kids who pick a technical track already have some idea what career skill they need to get.
