I got a letter saying that I am being placed on academic probation. I researched into and know what it is. My GPA was below the college standard, and I was going to appeal it. I have to speak with an adviser than I must meet with the Executive Director of Advising. My GPA was low partly out of my control and partly in my control. I took way to many classes, and a co worker quit so my employer forced me to work more hours. My schedule was over packed and I failed to realize I was way in over my head with classes before it was to late. My part in this is for not being proactive about my schedule and forcing it to work when needed. So after this disastrous semester I was going to take much fewer classes, and I got a new job that is more flexible with hours. However this wont do be any good now. I’m wondering if there’s anything I should do in preparation for appealing this suspension, anything I need to know about the process, what are my chances of successfully appealing the suspension, and if I fail the appeal what should I do going forward? Any feedback is appreciated.
Learn from your mistakes.
Failure is merely the opportunity to begin again, this time more intelligently.
Accept the fact that your GPA isn’t as ideal as it should be, and study harder next term so that you can raise your GPA and avoid being placed on academic probation in the future. Think ahead for the long term.
Are you on academic probation or suspension? If it is the former, then all you have to do is improve your GPA in order to get off probation, and it looks like you are clear on how to do that. If it is the latter, then it might make sense to file an appeal in order to get the suspension lifted. If you are indeed suspended, you may have to wait until the next session to reapply for admission.
Yes, it isn’t clear if you are on probation or if you have been suspended. You don’t appeal probation.
