Academic Suspension Question?

Last summer was pretty rough for me. My husband left me while I was in college, I got evicted from our house with our children and then to top things off I ended up getting cellulitis from one of the kids at the daycare where I was working. I ended up with an Academic Suspension. I had attended college before at another college and had 30 college hours before I switched to this Christian college thinking it would be better since I could do my college courses online and still work. I had always had good grades up until all of this happened. I filled out a form online from the college that gave me the Academic Suspension and told them my situation. There were only 4 choices as far as third party witnesses are concerned. I have the court papers from the divorce, hospital papers from being sick and the evictions papers showing I was being evicted from our home. This was last summer and I am passed all of this now. I am no longer working and would like to go back to the college that I was suspended from and bring my GPA up. I know I can do it, I only failed because of everything that went on last summer. I am 45 years old and the longer I wait to go back to college, the harder it is for me. How do I get back into college next year?? I did fill out the appeal process but I didn’t send in the 3rd party witness statement yet because it didn’t list divorce or eviction as a reason. Can I just fax all of the legal papers to the college as proof?

Sure, is it your plan to send in the appeal form with the documentation? If you submitted the appeal form a year ago without the forms they wanted, then maybe you have to send in the appeal form again. Perhaps add a cover letting to the documentation of the divorce and eviction so they know why you are sending that in.

I’m not sure how to answer your question, but maybe you could also post it in the Non-Traditional Student forum, and someone might have an answer for you.

I was right with you until you said you got Cellulitis (body fat) from a kid at daycare. Want to try again?

Erin’s dad, perhaps you are thinking of cellulite. Cellulitus is a bacterial infection. Who should be tryng again?

So it has been an entire year since you were academically suspended. First I would look at the student handbook (often online) to see what they say about academic suspensions and check if there is any information about reinstatement. Sometimes there are provisions for that. I think you need to contact the school and ask the step to take to appeal now. I don’t think you should just act like you are still filing papers from last summer.

Wow good luck and congrats on persevering on an education at your age! I don’t know enough to help you, but maybe try the other forum listed and talk to the college over the phone.

Oops. :"> Sorry OP

For the nice guy who said it Cellulitis wasnt contagious nice try, think again. I had a staph infection which turned into Cellulitis. Why dont you try looking up the meaning before you comment? I have my hospital documentation which showed me being on Bactrim for over 2 weeks and the diagnosis from the Emergency Room. I do have a family to take care of and my parents are both 80 years old. I am doing the best I can with what I have. Why dont you try working on your manners!!!

I am not filing papers from last summer. I took a year off to get my health better and decided a month ago to go back to college. I am 45 years old, not a spring chicken. I put off my education so I could raise my kids, two which are still under the age of 18.

What I am asking if I can send in the hospital papers plus my divorce papers to show the hardship I was going through while I was in college. I already did the appeal but I havent sent in the documentation yet ( which would be the divorce papers and ER papers.)

First, I would call the college and ask who you can speak with, what you can send etc.
