When I am a senior, I will the exact academic units required, except 2 more science than the expected 3 units. How many units did/do you have, and are the electives you take completely ignored in light of academics? I didn’t overachieve my academic credits, and I feel a little bad.

Total academic units 20+ (I will have 20)
English 4 (I will have 4)
Mathematics 4 (I will have 4)
Science 3+ (I will have 5)
Of these, units that must be labs 3+ (I will have 5)
Foreign language 3+ (I will have just 3)
Social studies 2+ (I will have 2, I think? American Government and Economics)
History 1 (I will have 2, but it looks like 1 is counted. I will have Amer. Hist. and World Hist.)
Academic electives (Not even looked at?)

Computer Science " " "
Visual/Performing Arts " " "
Other " " "

Can anyone elaborate on how Stanford judges what you take?

Here’s what I had (oh btw current student):

English: 4
Mathematics: 4 (although I ended with MV calc and linear algebra)
Science: 6
Foreign language: 3
Social studies: 1
History: 2 (btw I count world history and american history as 2)

That was pretty much it, besides a couple electives. Yeah so it looks like you’re on track. If these are mostly AP/honors classes, then just have good grades and good test scores and Stanford will probably consider you academically qualified and look at other things (essays, recs, ECs).

we are all about the same so you should be good as long as you meet their requirements. They judge based on how difficult the classes were in comparison to what other kids in you school are taking (like are you taking the hardest load you can) and how well you do in these classes. I hear they are a little more lenient on the person depending on the school. Like if your school only offers 6 APs, but you take all of them, Stanford doesn’t hold it against you (too much).
