Academically, how much harder is top tier UCs compared to low tier UCs?

I know that academicaly, top and middle tier UCs(B,UCLA,UCSD) are probably harder and more competitive than low tier UCs(UCI, UCSB, UCD), but I wanna know how much harder? is it about the same? a little harder? or significantly harder?

UCI, UCSB, UCD are not “low tier” UC’s… they are usually called “mid-tier” (low-tier usually refers to Riverside and Santa Cruz).

UCI, UCD and especially UCSB have been getting very competitive in recent years, and this year as well.

However, I’m not sure how much academically difficult, still being in high school. I’d also like to hear from UC students?

yeah i’m wondering the same thing. for me its basically ucsd vs cal poly slo (not a uc but often compared to the mid-tier ones) vs uci for engineering

freezingbum: here’s an interesting thing about cal poly http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=45230

I don’t think anyone can really answer this unless they’ve actually attended all of the schools. Obviously the “top tier” UCs admit students with better academic profiles, but that doesn’t always necessarily mean that it’s easier or harder.

anyone know the average gpas for engineering at these schools? because at ucsd its 3.0
