Academically Unacceptable High School?

I have a question I was hoping you could resolve. I attend a Texas public high school that was recently ranked “Academically Unacceptable” by our state board of education (TEA), the lowest possible ranking (due to a failure to graduate the requisite 75% of minority students). I was wondering if this would adversely affect my chances of acceptance to Harvard (or any other Ivy/prestigious school). I would assume the school’s rating would not affect the applicant, as this would disadvantage students from urban schools with low graduation rates and rural schools with minimal funding, groups that Harvard tends to favor, but I thought you might be able to provide your opinions. Thanks.

I seriously doubt that this would have any weight, considering it doesn’t really apply to all students in the school.

You should make sure that you prove to the admissions committee that, despite your high school not being the best, you are prepared to handle the work at Harvard.

This means things like - doing well on the SAT/SAT II, getting high scores when you take the AP test, and the like.

Actualy I think your application stand out than typical applications
if You pull good SAT. + good essay about your school

Psssh… as long as your school stays accredited.

My school was at the bottom ten percent of state test scores when I entered Freshman year.
