Academics, Social Life, and Sleep

Is the adage true that you can only very successfully juggle two of the three (at Columbia, that is)?

That adage is stupid. What’s “very successfully juggle” with respect to sleep? Getting 10 hours of sleep a day and taking a nap in the afternoons? Some people like to get 8-9 hours of sleep. Others are happy sleeping 5-6 hours.

And what’s a successful social life? Going to a fancy nightclub every night? Hanging out with your friends on the weekends?

I think that most Columbia students are able to maintain balance in their lives and do reasonably well in school, have a good time, and maintain their health.

They’re manageable, depending on your expectations, as columbia2002 said. Your sleep schedule will probably be very different from that in high school, though. Most people prefer later scheduled classes for that reason.
