Acceptance Letters

I know… you folks always say that… but her friend got admitted to NYU Tisch for directing… and they soooooo want to go together!

i talked to admissions today, a woman told me she believes the invites are sent out alphabetically and they are still sending some out this week. Curious what does everyone who has been accepted last name start with, so i can try to determine how far along they are… of course my last name would have to start with a T. bah …

Starts with an “A.” My son received his letter last Thursday, but I heard some went out before. How many "A"s can there be? :-)

Last name starts with a “W”, she got the letter on Friday, we live in VA.

I do not believe it is alphabetical. Four years ago, I learned about the Sat. in the Square invites from others online. When my D got one, it was the day a slew of others were also reporting receiving one. It was the first day anyone was posting about them. Our last name begins with T, by the way. She had friends who got them at the same time whose last names were from all parts of the alphabet.

ah ok… im so confused i hear so many different things from different people at NYU… i guess i just have to wait. atleast there still sending them out!:)

I think as the saying goes, “it ain’t over until the fat lady sings” and so you have to stay open minded until the real admissions decisions come out on April 1 and then you’ll have the concrete answer. In the meantime, please remain realistic (even if optimistic). The reality of BFA admissions is such that the majority who apply/audition at an individual school will be denied admission. Therefore, attention and hopes should not focus on any one particular school. Hopefully each applicant has a well balanced and realistic college list (very important to all the junior families reading this) that will yield SOME acceptances. Even the most talented kids in the country will receive some rejections. It is part of this process. Come to expect them. Stay open to all the schools on your list. No one single college is the end all and be all. Many programs will provide excellent educations and wonderful experiences. Try, as hard as it may be, to not focus on this school and to just wait for the admissions decision letters on April 1. Yes, if you have not gotten an invitation by now, it is discouraging, I realize. But the admission process is not yet over and so don’t close this school off yet, but stay realistic and not focus on this school too much.

yah it is hard, but im trying to remember that they have so many to send out and admissions did say there still sending them this week so ill keep hoping!

Good luck KrisJan with NYU/Tisch and with all your schools. You will land some place and have an awesome time. That is the part I feel certain of. Uncertainty of where you will land is always an edgy feeling but it will be over in two weeks.

And trust me, it will start all over again when it comes to casting in college, summer theater jobs, internships, showcase, getting an agent, getting cast following graduation and and and and and and…:)

thanks for all of your insight! keeping my fingers crossed:)

krisjan91, in SC here, got mine today!
Good luck :)

Wow…how funny…I thought they were done…are you a S or D and what studio did you get? Tisch…I know, but for acting or MT? BTW…CONGRATS11

they told me they’ll be sending more out this week also so i dont think there done yet…i hope:)

Congratulations Vikingchica. I’d say…you are a girl who knows Spanish. A formidable girl, I’m sure! :-D

Congrats to all of you who have heard and best of luck to those still waiting. Don’t give up hope!

musicalthetremom, studio assignments will not come out until after the official offers of admission arrive around April 1. The only kids who know their studio placement now are E.D. kids and those who indicated that they only wanted CAP21 and would not accept placement in another studio.

How many who specify CAP21 as their first choice are then put into acting studios?

^^^Clay, there is no way to really know that number.

I know a lot of kids with MT backgrounds who are in the acting studios and they are very involved in MT at Tisch. In fact, I just saw the Tisch MT Industry Showcase, and several people in it were from acting studios.

Dear soozie, first of all let me just say that you are soooo helpful! I love reading your stuff! Second, we are waiting to hear from three more schools, one being NYU and my question is…if they asked my D at the audition which studio she desired and she said the usual…cap21…(not knowing much about the others) would they still possibly admit her to another studio even though she said cap 21?

I heard… I live in North Carolina and got my “join us” letter on monday… I know for a fact that I was one of the last techies to have my artistic reviews too… It might be different for acting/musical theater though…

It is getting hard here. My D’s friends have been accepted to NYU for directing and composition. She has heard nothing. And I know the calls are still being made today for CMU and it looks like no call is coming to this house… And still nothing from NCSA even though they said they are sending everything out last week and this week.

She’s very down. She can’t understand NYU because she had a great audition and the adjudicator said “We will definitely be in touch!” after the audition. She also meets the academics statistically speaking. I know everyone says not to worry, but everyday kids make comments to her and that does not help. It is just soooo hard.
