Acceptance/Merit rate for UMCP 2009

Anyone know the acceptance rate for UMCP 2009?
How many freshmen have been accepted to the honor program, what is the rate?
How many will have B/K, President, Dean merit scholarship?

The Banneker/Key Scholarship thread touches on this a lot. I would read through that thread. Specifically, icylava touches upon this in post #117: BK chances and Honors Program

If you are invited into the Honors Program, you have 25% chance of getting the Banneker/Key Scholarship, otherwise you have 0%.

“All Banneker Key Scholars are offered admission to the University Honors Program.”

Merit Scholarships

The are 800 Honors Program invitees

“Each year, approximately 800 undergraduates are invited into this highly selective program.”

About University Honors

Post #7 in the following thread said there are 200 B/K scholarships

Obtaining Banneker/Key Scholarship

So, 200/800 = 25%

Also, the overall UMD acceptance rate for 2009 isn’t available yet, as not all admission decisions have been made.

So if you were not told about the B/K scholarships upon admission, it is too late, right?

I don’t know if the b/k letters are "staggered’ but my D got one on Wednesday. The letter stated that UMDCP received 27000 applications and that she was in the top 2% of the applicant pool.

From the Feb. 20 Baltimore Sun: "At the University of Maryland, College Park, where the average math and verbal SAT score is up to 1,263 and a quarter of freshmen have scores over 1,400, the acceptance rate has been under 50 percent since 2004.

“The school is seeing a small increase in applications this year. It received about 28,000 applications for about 4,000 slots in the freshman class.”

D got into both Honors and Humanities Honors, but no letter yet about any kind of merit awards. Is it possible that a letter will be on its way soon??

jnrsmom,

The B/K Scholarship interviews will be finishing on the 11th, but from what I understand, merit $ notifications should go out by April 1st.

Thanks Jewels…we’ll be waiting!

There is a 1.4% chance of getting a BK scholarship interview, and a little more than half get the full ride, but that’s of the entire applicant pool. 384 people were invited to the interviews this year, and all had been invited to honors. So if the 800 person figure is correct (and I’m not sure it is) you have a nearly 50% chance of getting one of the two forms of BK, but I feel like since the applicant pool grew they invited more than 800.

Are international students eligible for Honors programs and scholarships?
