Acceptance/Scholarship Thread for Class of '29 Undergrad/'27 Grad Music Majors

graduate programs at Juilliard are free tuition, correct? Very exciting!

Has anyone received their Cincinnati Conservatory of Music scholarship offer? Thanks

IU Jacobs - I swear, you guys, they are trying to kill me. It’s the last financial package we are waiting on, and everything I’ve read pointed to today as financial day, but nothing so far. They did send an email earlier trying to give me a heart attack by asking “have you submitted your FAFSA?” I knew we had, but I had to go login to check (we had). But nothing since then, and I just am ready to have all the info available. This is all made much worse by the fact that I was laid off last week, so now we need even more $$ to make these schools affordable. I’m ready to start wheeling and dealing to see if we can make this happen.

She got accepted to Juilliard yesterday, and we got financials from them this afternoon (not enough $$, sadly, but at least we have the info). But IU is apparently going to wait until the absolute last possible minute

Of course, now that I’ve written out my little rant, I’m sure it will show up in her inbox the minute I hit post, LOL.

We received Jacobs a couple of weeks ago

As I predicted, it came shortly after I posted. Another slightly disappointing number, but at least we have all the info now.

Got waitlisted from Yale today. Disappointing, because there is only 1 spot, so I doubt the person would turn it down.

Will probably end up committing to BU, but I will obviously wait to hear from Yale first!

I don’t believe they are-- the MFA Acting degree is and some others like the Artist Diploma, but not their MM.

You’re right, they’re not. My daughter asked them about that at a college fair last year, and they said it was only tuition free for acting.

I kind of wonder why that is. Most actors/musicians/dancers are going to face similar challenges when it comes to finding gainful employment after school, so I wonder why actors get the free program. There must have been an endowment or something behind that decision.

yes

We received the cincinnatus and the other academic one. Is there also a separate music one? Thanks so much

He found out today that his merit offer covers full tuition for his MM. :tada:

You can use award offers from other schools to negotiate with Juilliard – and they are not unsympathetic to life situations. Good luck!

Yes, my son got the Cincinnatus and the National something can’t remember Scholarship for $10,000 and $5000 from CCM. Hes Percussion Performance

That’s what we got, so there aren’t actual
Music scholarships?

She’s also in the top 5% honors college. All of that and being a top player is only worth 15k?

I feel you. My son got into honors college too. Wishing you good luck. My son committed to UNT

for us, the academic aid came first, then the music about 10 days later.

I think we’re going to have a lot of decisions soon! It seems like most of the financials are finally released, so if anyone has any further updates (or if I missed anyone), let me know!
