<p>As a freshman, just worry about getting excellent grades and gaining some experience in the medical field through volunteering or research.</p>
<p>I’d also suggest getting a worthwhile job as fast as possible. Working in a lab/hospital/clinic isn’t so much something that will make you stand out anymore as it is a necessity, and a strong disadvantage for not having it.</p>
