Acceptances

We have heard nothing from NU. However, my son did not even apply until Feb. Congrats to your daughter.

@MTKidsBiggestFan - fingers crossed that he gets good news from NU (and any other schools he’s applied to)! I think people said last year they sent out notifications in late March, but I guess with such a huge increase in the number of applications it could be slower this year.

Hope you hear soon, and that your S joins D next fall in the NU theatre department!!

MTKidsBiggestFan…it doesn’t matter when your child sent in his application. Everyone who applies in the Regular Decision round hears at one time. I know in 2009, my student was accepted on March 26 and I believe last year students were notified of admissions decisions around March 25/26. I expect that to be the case this year too.

Fingers crossed for everyone waiting for RD decisions this year! The Dance Marathon just ended last night (they raised a record $1.3M+ for charity by dancing for 30 hours!) and Spring Break is approaching, which usually means the RD decisions should be out before long (maybe late this coming week?).

Good luck everyone, and Go Cats!!

2015?

@tmygirl - Based on past years I’d guess email may be sent on the 19th or 20th. Congratulations on your other great acceptances, and best of luck to everyone!

Thanks @MomCares!

Thinking today is the day!! Crossing everything for my S!!!

I think they were a few days later than expected this year in releasing ED results (no idea why) but I’ll cross my fingers that he gets some good news tonight! If he hears decisions are being released but he hasn’t gotten his, urge him to check his SPAM folders as some years the “from” address has confused some ISPs.

Thanks!!!

S just got WL

Congratulations!! We know some people who have gotten in from the NU WL, so fingers crossed for you! It seems like it was a really competitive RD round this year, since half the class was admitted ED.

D WL too. Would love to know how likely it is to get off WL and be admitted.

Just got accepted!

Congratulations, @liveloveMT! My S was accepted also - he is still in a state of shock, this was pretty unexpected for him.

I can’t speak to the likelihood of admission from the waitlist, but I do know it happens and am hoping for the best for you all.

@liveloveMT and @FoxinSocks - Congratulations!!

Congrats @liveloveMT and @FoxinSocks! My D was accepted too - quite unexpected here as well with so few spots.

Congratulations, @kate2019!!! It’s really nice when our kids get recognized for all their hard academic work (which often doesn’t matter at many of the BFA MT programs). Time for a campus visit now!

I hope everyone who plans visits enjoys them! If you sit in on classes, it probably goes without saying that NU is quite different than schools where MT, Drama, Directing, Design, etc. cohorts are kept very seperate. Our D, for example, sat in on a class she thought was MT and was underwhelmed, but later realized that niether the profs nor the students she saw were part of the MT program. Similarly, a show you see might or might not include any of the more serious performers (many of whom rarely perform on campus but instead work professionally in Chicago). For example, at least half of the ~20 kids in this years’ NY Showcase are people I’ve never seen (of course D knows them all).

I’d offer D as an additional tour guide, but she has finished classes and is doing a show downtown. Again, congratulations on adding NU to your list of options!

… and I forgot to add that D has really loved her time at Northwestern! In addition to growing a lot artistically, she has forged lifelong friendships with both students and professors, has been given amazing opportunities both on and off campus, has loved every one of her classes (including in her second major) and even a year before graduation had launched her performing career. She could not be happier with her college experience. Don’t hesitate to pm if I can be of any help.
