My son had great credentials with 7 APs, AP scholar with distinction award, ACT 34, SAT 2200 and yet didn’t get into U of M in Fall 2013. He applied for Fall 2014 as a transfer student with just one semester at MSU and he got accepted this week. He applied just a week before March 1st deadline and thought he wouldn’t get in but I wanted him to apply anyway as he has 3.9 GPA at MSU so far and he has 70+ credits after just one year at MSU due to his AP class credits. Anyway, I just want to wish every one the very best and let you know that you CAN transfer after just one year! Don’t give up if this is what you want.

I was also accepted as a transfer (a few years ago) with just one completed semester and far fewer credits than sssb777’s son. It’s definitely not impossible!

I do recommend, though, that anyone hoping to transfer after a year or two elsewhere enjoy their first university in the meantime. Don’t spend all of your time thinking about Michigan–get out and enjoy what your college has to offer, as well.

@sssb777, just curious which college your son got accepted to? Interested if anyone is receiving CoE decisions yet besides a few odd cases.
