Hello, I was just wondering what the chances have been like historically for seniors who attend this symposium and their chances at actual admission at Princeton. Does attending this program correlate highly to being accepted into Princeton? Also, does it make a big difference between applying SCEA and RD after you have been accepted into this program?
I’ll be there too, so I look forward to meeting you! I’ve not heard much, but according to my college counselor it can provide a general, significant boost to your chances of being admitted. I’d definitely like to hear if anyone knows for sure that this is true (and if so, to what extent)!
More than 100 high school seniors from around the country spent a late-September weekend getting an all-expenses-paid introduction to Princeton’s creative arts and humanities programs. …
Classics professor Joshua Katz, a faculty coordinator of the program and one of 20 professors who participated, called it “a totally unpressured pitch. There’s no compulsion for them to apply.” Each year between 24 and 32 of those attending the program have ended up enrolling, Dean of Admission Janet Rapelye said.
In more recent years the number of attendees has been under 100, but the PAW article linked above is a good general summary of what goes on. My DD attended in the fall of 2015 and was admitted SCEA but I’ve never seen numbers other than what was in the PAW.
