Accepted In Purdue

They offer aid to internationals but not much.

Hey Pulkit
Even i got in today
Though its my backup :)

@zoheb: Thanks man! My stats aren’t so good. But I’m aiming high. SAT composite of 1970 (CR:580,W:630,M:760). I think my essays will get me in (probably).
Where have you applied?
@pulkit: Thanks :slight_smile:
U-M has rolling admission. Hence, the decisions are released on a daily basis (similar to Purdue). They guarantee a decision notification by mid-April.

@smit I’ve applied to UIUC , UWM , Purdue and Penn State
My SAT sucks so i couldnt do much (1800)…
Does anyone know someone who got rejected at Purdue? Coz i’ve never heard of anyone getting rejected from there.

Hey Congrats Poseidon226
Yup, Purdue’s my backup too
Waiting for decision from UIUC, UC Berkeley & UMich…
@smit5292 & poseidon226:
what’re ur intended majors??

@Pulkit
Thans man
Im plannin to major in mechanical and the do post-grad in automobile
Newayz ive applied to 16 universities so awaitin all oder decisions

@Zoheb
The acceptance rate of Purdue is >70% so u probably have never seen neone get rejected.

Purdue is actually under-rated because of the very high acceptance ratio (public schools do have very high acceptance ratios). However, it’s a very good school, especially for engineering. Hence the tag, “No one gets rejected by Purdue.”

Even UIUC and Georgia Tech have acceptance ratios like 70% and 60% respectively. The high acceptance ratio is because they’re flagship state universities (public schools) and therefore they have a huge enrollment (20,000-50,000).

My intended major is CompE/CS but I’m sure that I’ll change my major at least once. :D

Although UIUC has an acceptance rate of >65% ,I have noticed that there are many people who get rejected from there. Getting admission there can be really tricky. I know a guy who got into carnegie and cornell but rejected at UIUC, with really good stats.

What i dont get is, that UIUC has has almost the same acceptance as Purdue but UIUC rejects a lot more. Any one knows why??

@smit:
Hey,
I’m also gonna major in CompE/CS…
Am really confused between d 2…
Can u tell me abt their differences??

CS is kinda more math and programming.

CompE has hardware+programming+math.

But both the majors can be confusing. Even I don’t know which one I’m gonna end up with.

Different colleges have different CS/CompE courses.
For an example, Stanford just has one degree, CS, which includes every single thing included in CompE.

I’m not into Wikipedia, but here’s what I found:

[WikiAnswers - What is the difference between computer science and software engineering](What is diff between computer engineering and computers science engineering? - Answers)

I think WiniAnswers paints an accurate picture. My experience is that people with computer engineering degree, in many instances, end up becoming system engineers/architects.

Has anyone received their aid notification? Does anyone know when we’ll get it?

I got into purdue with 1990, but I am not delighted. I think it accepts a lot of people as they know only few will enroll. Otherwise I applied to 25 universities (HA HA) and purdue is lowest on that list. People told me that with 1990 getting into stanford, mit… will be extremely difficult, so I applied to almost all ivys, ucs, …

im almost in the same boat as u carreshwell
ive 2030 n so wasnt very hopeful n applied to 16 universities
unfortunately i had missed the UC deadline so couldnt apply there
whats ur SAT 2? cuz im banking on the SAT 2 to get me in :)

790 in ml2 and 800 in physics, 760 in ml1

People accepted to Purdue, please could you post your stats.

Hey guys! I got into purdue for fall 2010… heard its pretty well reputed worldwide, but does anyone know if they offer fin.aid/scholarships to intl undergrad students? Cos I’ve gotten offers from few other colleges and a scholarship covering almost 40% of the cost at one of them… so now i’m in a fix, trying to decide which one to pick…

Singapore. No mate. :slight_smile: Negligible [read NO] monetary aid or scholarships to international undergrads. My friend got in. He’s paying for everything. Quite an expensive affair, one must imagine…

Hey guys!!!
Looks like there aint any other gal who has gotten in so far…
So…lemme introduce myself…I am Shraddha Pai from mumbai… and got into purdue for elec and comp science…
