Accepted or rejected to UCSC?

I got a 3.3 in sophomore year and then a 3.8 in my junior year and a sat score of 1923 I play basketball and have a ton of EC’s do I have a chance?

Depends, is that gap your UC weighted? Or is it unweighted?

Edit: GPA not GAP lol

You fall into their average range between your ACT/SAT and GPA. It’s hard to say.

I’m a senior now but I haven’t taken any honors or AP courses so I guess unweighted …

So what does that mean? That I might not get accepted ?

You are saying you will be starting your Senior year and applying for Fall 2106? You need to calculate your UC GPA: http://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/

Also your essays and EC’s will contribute to your chances along with your UC GPA/SAT. UC’s also take into account course rigor so if you have not taken Honors/AP classes, this will hurt your chances since you will be competing against applicants with several of the these courses under their belt. Repost with your UC GPA, but based on what on your Stats right now, UCSC is probably a High Match/Low reach which means no guarantee.

Darn its. 3.5 lol I’m basically not gunna get in with that GPA at all well I’ll apply somewhere else

You’re a senior? Are you applying to start in Sept of 2015?

There is no harm in apply to UCSC with the understanding that you may or may not get it. If you have some outstanding essays, you still have a chance. What is your intended major? If you are a California resident, there are 23 Cal States and many excellent private schools to consider. Cal States only use CSU/UC GPA and SAT (Math +CR) to calculate your Eligibility index. Here is the calculation: (UC/CSU GPA x800) + (Math + CR). If you calculate your EI and post the results, CC posters can give you some excellent schools to apply. You should also consider UCR and UCI as possible UC schools. Again there is no guarantee with any school, so you can look at common datasets for each school. It will show the %enrolled students with their unweighted GPA and SAT scores. You want to be above the 50th percentile for Match schools and above the 75percentile for Safety schools. Good Luck.

can I appeal my rejection if I accidentally applied with the wrong major? I messed up so hard. The major I actually meant to apply with had all the pre-reqs completed while the major they took did not.
