We are deciding between several schools in different regions. I really like U MIch but it would require it’s own trip. Will I learn a lot at accepted student day? Also is there a best language program to fulfill LSA requirement?

Do you mean campus day?

Yes. Campus day!

If you haven’t visited campus and you are seriously considering the school, then it is worth the trip.

Definitely. The only draw back is there is a cost to it. You need to choose a day on the list for registration. Make sure your school/program is available for that day. It should give you a more in depth information regarding the school and program. My D signed up for the last day (3/21). Winter weather here is unpredictable so I don’t recommend to come in Jan/Feb particularly if you are not from the area.
I actually live in town and used to work and live on campus. I still signed up my daughter for the Tech Day and Campus Day. If you are coming from out of town, you probably want to spend some time on campus before or after the campus day to explore more the area and campus. The Campus Day program is very busy that you are not likely to have much time to walk around on your own. See the program on their website: http://www.admissions.umich.edu/drupal/campus-day-program-highlights
You may tour the dorm and have a meal there. You can also attend a lecture to have some classroom experience. This would be much much more informative and intensive than a simple campus visit.

Thank you. With time and expense wanted to be sure it was worthwhile. Can anyone comment on the LSA language requirement? MY S may try a totally new language after some years of Spanish and wonder if there are any professors or language tracks that are most popular

Did he take AP Spanish? They have reduced the credit from AP though.

Yes. Wants to try a new language!

I’ll throw it out there, I’m taking Dutch and thoroughly enjoy it! The professor is awesome as well. It’s by no means a popular language, as there’s only about 10 of us in the class and we’re the only section. It’s certainly something a rare language however, and I think there’s only about 10-15 schools in the US that teach it if I remember correctly.

Also there are a couple of other “rare” languages that offer money if you take them, if that’s an incentive.
