Accepted Students - What should I aim for?

These are the colleges I’m really interested in right now…can any accepted students (or just anyone, it doesn’t matter) fill me in on what I should shoot for on my next SATs to be competitive. I’ll need to be in the higher range, because my GPA isn’t wonderful, but I just really want to know how those that were admitted did on the tests…

wow, that is a very diverse list of schools

yeah i know, i get that a lot. i just don’t have a specific type of school that i like, i could go for a big one or a small one…city or rural. all of these schools attracted me for many different reasons.

I got into Clemson… 640 M, 590 V, 630 W, 3.9 UW. I don’t know if that helps?

Math and Verbal should be around 1200, probably more for the more competitive majors (like engineering)

for UND you’ll probably need higher. I don’t know too much about it but i’m assuming around 1350 for them? Please correct me if needed.

I got a 1480/2220 and I got into Notre Dame and Villanova. I’m not sure if that’s average, above average, or below average, but it is what it is.

Tidbit: Once you learn the type of SAT scare “needed” to get into a school, aim to have about 100 points higher (if possible).

My #2 choice was Villanova and during the summer they said a 3.6 or 7 GPA is good to have (I have a 4.0) and I forget the SAT score they wanted but I had like 20 points higher. So through logical thought I along with my teachers and everyone pretty much was sure I’d get in, but I was waitlisted most likely to the fact that this was “the most competitive year ever”.

So whatever schools are asking for make sure to go above (I know most people assume to do this anyway) because you never know how competitive admissions will be for your year. Because of this make sure you really do want to go to your safety schools, because now I am stuck with going to University of Maryland CP (wasn’t really a safety but I thought I had the same chances there as I did with Villanova) which isn’t a bad school at all but I just don’t think it’s for me.

I don’t even know if this helped or not. It’s late and I tend to ramble.
