Yes, that’s the MIT alright. He came to the US from Iran in 9th grade, if that helps. But also, keep in mind that he was rejected from most of the UCs he applied to (in which i can easily come to the conclusion that the UCs appear to be more numbers-based in terms of admissions).

Ec’s- swimming(lots of accolades, represented country, held some age group and regional records, etc.), Competitive Chess( pretty good rating on international level, won some really tough competitions and what not). Hired to write stories for local magazines in the summer since I was like 16(did it for 2 yrs before applying to college). Took a year off after highschool and basically spent it writing for a local paper.

Essays: I think I had some really good essays. I got some really good follow ups to my essays from a few admission officers who really liked what I wrote.

I’m probably the only person who has any interest in this school on this forum, but I got a letter talking about the scholarships they’re offering me, and I’m so happy I want to tell everyone. I got accepted into Ole Miss ( U of Mississippi) and got a full ride plus spending money and 3000$ for a computer.
3.8 GPA (around there…maybe a point lower or higher).
1460 SAT
33 ACT
National Merit SemiFinalist (some of the scholarships depend on me becoming a finalist but I’m confident that I will)
Really that’s about all they know about. The app. is super simple. There’s not even an essay, just an optional personal statement. I’ve got other awards, sat 2 scores, and ECs, but I got the full ride w/ just the stats I listed. I believe they’re offering people w/ stats like mine all this b/c they’re trying to change from just a state school where all the doctors and lawyers send their kids to a more academic one.

Waiting for john hopkins defer
