Hook: sexual health activism (essay on this), which has included writing for MTV.com and a nationally disseminated teen sexual health newsletter, being interviewed on Ntnl. Public Radio, by People magazine, by Teen Vogue magazine, and by KAtie Couric on Dateline, among other things. I sent one of my MTV articles as a supplement.

Other hook: creative writing, which included attending the Governor’s School of the Arts (NJ)–Creative Writing division, to which only 12 creative writers in the state were chosen. I had the time of my life, and wrote an essay on it.

I really wanna emphasize that, as you guys and gals can see, it’s not always about the numbers. (40)^2 isn’t everything; nor are ((40)^2)/2’s.

I dedicated myself to what I loved and tried to make myself as irresistible as possible by making myself “rise off the page,” so-to-speak, with strong essays and a supplementary resume that highlighted all the things I couldn’t fit on the application.

And then there’s the arbitrary nature to the process that you can’t control–so don’t try. Just do your best to stand out; be honest, thorough, thoughtful, inventive and irresistible, try to get those good grades, stress less about those darned SATs, and remember–it’s Senior Year. Try to have some fun!

SAT2s: 800/800/790/770/770/770
8 AP courses, 4 5’s 4 4’s, 4 more this year

Lots of good extracurriculars (not that it’s useful)

Hehe, Your ECs must have been useful, Duskstamper, or else, how could you have gotten into an Ivy when you’re in the bottom percent of your class? Don’t underestimate the power of strong school involvment!

They were all right: I was no class president, but I have been a class representative for the last couple years. Stuff like Model UN (I literally spend like 2 hours a year preparing for it), Academic team (yeah, I spend some time, every other Saturday but it’s really fun), Chinese school graduate &volunteer, piano (like all good asians). They’re nothing spectacular though. 3 of my lab partners in 2 lab classes were seimens regional finalists/semis.
