<p>I was accepted to Cornell last year for the Fall 2005 term. However, I couldn’t attend because of family issues and I had to stay close to home and attend NYU instead. I’ve done well at NYU and kept up a 3.775 GPA. I’m applying again this year to Cornell as a transfer student, does the fact that I was accepted last year help my chances for getting accepted again? Thanks</p>

<p>well I had to stay in NYC and go to NYU which is close to home because of family problems. But pretty much the problem with NYU is that I’ve lived in NYC my whole life and I wanna go to some place brand new, like Ithaca. And having no campus takes away the typical college experience and there is also a lacking sense of community</p>
<p>since you were accepted before, have done well at your current college (which happens to be an excellent school, too), and chose to go to school in NY because you had to deal with family problems, I think you’re likely to be accepted.</p>

<p>yes write a letter. A cover letter is a good place to put it. Also, isn’t there a special essay about why you want to transfer in transfer applications?</p>
<p>Yeah, I would be sure to mention the reason why you didnt attend CU last year. Otherwise turning down their offer and then re-applying as a transfer is going to look odd to them to say the least.</p>
<p>write a separate letter. Dont worry about where to put it in the application, put it first. You should hopefully have a good shot of getting in as a transfer.</p>
