Anybody here get this decision just like me? Any idea about the freshmen connection program? I know we can’t live on campus but I don’t know much else…Gonna be hard for me since I’m in Jersey

my site wont load but im assuming that will be my decision. what were your stats and are in IS or OOS?

I’m an out of stater
SAT Scores
Reading-550
Math-740
Writing-670
Essay-11

I’m a Senior at an all IB school. So far, I’ve scored 4’s on both History and Spanish. This is additionally an honors only high school, so every class is honors. My GPA is an 86.64, but if I had attended a regular high school, I’d probably be somewhere in the low to mid 90s.
I have an excellent letter of recomendation.
Extra curriculars- I’ll have 4 years of baseball, 4 years of volunteer service at Ronald McDonald House, summer job in both sophomore summer and junior year summer. I’ve also been an SAT math tutor.

Basically I think my LOR was what even got me into Spring. I’ve been working my buns off since freshman year, but it doesn’t show in my grades.

i got this decision as well. I have a 3.3 GPA with a HUGE upward trend, and 1930 SATs, 1250 2 section. I applied for business and got into letters and sciences for spring. IDK how I feel about this, seems pretty sketchy: I don’t like no on-campus housing, classes at strange times of the day, and being isolated from all the other students.

I don’t think your really isolated. Sure, you live off campus, but your allowed to be in clubs and organizations. You just can’t join the varsity teams. You can also have a dining plan.

If you get accepted to spring 2012, are you automatically waitlisted for fall 2011?

I have no idea. It just said that I was waitlisted for fall and I will be notified by June 1.

I got the same. But I’m in complete shock. I thought I would have made it regular enrollment.
I’m in state, with a 3.8 UW, and 4.4 weighted GPA.
28 ACT, 1240 SAT (CR and M).
I will have taken 9 APs by graduation.
I’m in NHS, Secretary at that, and the President or VP of various clubs and organizations.
I have tons of Community Service hours, etc. And I think my letters of rec were decent if not very good. And my mom went there if that means anything.
This isn’t an option for me though, so good luck to you all.

Well you will have class at the same time that most clubs and E.C’s are meeting (3-9) so seems very separate from every one else.

it think you can get either waitlisted for fall or just accepted to spring. i got accepted to spring thats it. SAT 1860/ 1190, GPA 3.7 weighted
i thought id get flat out rejected… soo yea

i got it too, this will probably lead to me not going. don’t know how I got this with
3.9 WGPA 3.4 UW
1870 superscore
full ib program

i have a friend in this right now.

its basically where you commute to school EVERY day. you attend same classes, the only difference is you dont live on campus (apparently no room). you are then integrated back into the campus and living in dorms during second semester.

so the only difference is commuting for one semester due to lack of dorms. same classes/majors/programs.

This happened to me as well. And they say that we’ll hear June 1st. Now all of my other colleges that i’ve been accepted to say that I have to confirm enrollment by May 1st. How does this work since I really want to go to UMD and want to wait to see if they can sqeeze me in for fall?

Kamrk1 - I am wondering about that too. I am a mother btw. We are in-state, son has stats very similar to redskins 1993, goes to a nationally ranked h.s. in Montgomery County. I think it’s just really hard now for in-state students that go to a highly competitive high school. Son has been admitted to PITT, JMU and Penn State. He will probably end up at PITT or Penn State.

I heard you do not attend the same classes, that you are only permitted to take classes between 3PM and 9PM, so you are not with the regular students.

kamrk and stayathome - the way this works - you want to pay a deposit to another college where you are accepted (unless you choose to do Freshman Connection) by May 1. If you find out from Maryland that you are off the WL and in for Fall 2011 in June - you will forfeit the deposit you paid to the other college and pay a deposit to Maryland in addition.

So - it’s pay a deposit to College XYZ by May 1 and wait and see what happens with Maryland in June OR do Maryland all the way including Freshman Connection for Fall 2011.

@themcgees not true. you can take classes whenever. as long as you can commute/drive to it, ur fine.

My D got accepted for Spring term too, but the e-mail didn’t say she had to attend Freshman Connection. There was a link to explore options and it as an option along with Fall term in London, or taking classes elsewhere for transfer in or community service etc.

Is this the same as all of you got or did yours say you had to enroll in Freshman Connection? Hers also did not mention anything about Wait List for the Fall did anyone else’s specifically say that?

The Fall Term in London looked pretty interesting.

Freshmen Connection is just an option, it is not mandatory for anyone. I also got the spring option with no wait list mention. Was wait list noted in the email or online or both?
