@3puppies I have tried the Tide Free and Clear. DH swears he still gets itchy from it. A random googling does support that notion but I also suspect there is some “opposite placebo” effect going on I wish I could use Tide because I think it cleans better.
Maybe I’ll switch and not tell him and see what happens. Like the old Folgers coffee ad.
Woolite makes me break out in hives. Fabric softener sheets give H hives. We stick with All Free & Clear, since it doesn’t set off anyone in our house, including our very sensitive kids.
Stainless steel cleaning trick I haven’t seen mentioned: use mild soap and water or e-cloth and water to clean off any dirt, then apply a small amount of mineral oil (I just put some on a paper towel) and rub in well, covering as much surface as you can with the oil. The mineral oil hides water marks that otherwise are impossible to get out. Most stainless steel cleaners have some kind of oil in them, and mineral oil is cheap, odorless, never goes rancid, and is food-grade — it’s sold as a laxative!
Once you have polished the surface with mineral oil, you can just wipe it down as needed with a damp ecloth and dry with the polishing cloth.
i have a white laundry sink, it’s not metal or ceramic, it’s something plasticy/formed and it has orange stains, like from soaking. Bleach does nothing to it, nor vinegar, any ideas to try?
Regarding laundry soaps, my front loader kept having small runnels of liquid soap colored sludge showing up on the exterior bottom piece, where the seam met between top and bottom metal exterior pieces (under the door)
When I removed it and looked inside, old thick laundry soap was building up on the inside metal rim. Some googling (and cleaning) later I have been using only powders and been just as happy with the results, but with no mess.
