<p>I have been into video production for a while now and I was wondering if I will have access to production classes when not a film major. If not, will I be able to use the facilities during non lecture/lab hours for video production?</p>
<p>How does it work? From what I found on the schedule, many of the production classes are only open to film students. What if you’re a marketing major that wants to make a commercial, or a history major that wants to make a documentary? What if you want to make a video and don’t have the resources- are the facilities available to students that are not film majors?</p>
<p>A- we don’t have a marketing major. not to be picky, but just saying. </p>
<p>B- follow emmeline’s contact advice. there are plenty of film classes available to non-majors, but none of them are based in production. best bet is to see if you can get access.</p>
<p>Film production courses are for film majors only sadly. </p>
<p>But you can join a club on campus called VPC which stands for Video Production Commitee.</p>
<p>i joined this group this past year and it is pretty cool. basically we meet once every week and talk about film and sometimes get tutorials from people working in the biz. if u have any ideas for something to film, you can submit a script and the group will use studio equipment from restv to film it.</p>
<p>Also another cool thing you should probably check out is Melnitz movies. basically what melnitz does is screen sneak peeks of movies mostly indies but the cool part about it is they have someone connected to the film come in and speak. I met people like Kevin Smith, Jeremy sisto, Luke Wilson, and other real cool directors and writers at these events.</p>
<p>I actually had a similar question. I wanted to apply to be a theatre major and was wondering if I could petition into a theatre class to see what it would be like.</p>
