hi,
i know many schools are releasing decisions via portal, but how are we supposed to access decisions on SAO? will they just show up on the “apply to schools” page?
Decisions will be on school’s portal, not SAO. Some schools also send via email.
oh, that’s weird
i haven’t received any instructions then from how to access individual school portals
Which schools are you applying to? Maybe others have not received instructions either?
peddie, govs, pennington, george school, kent, and lawrence
i already know how to access george school but not the others
Make sure you figure out how to access your decisions before the day of. From what I have read, schools really hate it when they get panicked emails and phone calls on M10 asking for help accessing decisions. If you can’t find how to access things now, it’s better to figure it out now than on the night before—or, worse, on M10.
Peddie said in an email, “Admission decisions will be shared electronically on March 10, 2024.”
Don’t know about the other schools.
Many schools send you the info about accessing the portal when you first submit your inquiry. Govs and Kent definitely did. Not all schools use portals though - some just email decisions.
ohh dayum i guess i gotta scroll back in my email now
@NYMom139 Did your son/daughter apply to Kent this cycle? Mine did and we did not receive any information on a school portal. This is all we received:
"We are pleased to notify you that xxx’s application for admission to Kent School is now complete.
We appreciate all of the hard work that goes into the school search and application process and look forward to getting to know our applicants even better through our review of their applications.
If we can be of any assistance while applicants wait for their decisions, please reach out at any time with questions or concerns."
@treenuggets I just looked at Kent’s website because we did not receive any info about accessing a portal (we did for the other school my daughter applied to) and it says:
Admissions decisions are communicated via email on March 10 for applicants who have met the priority application deadline.
thanks!
We submitted an inquiry directly on Kent’s website and did tour/interview but didn’t apply. We got portal information the day (or day after) we submitted the inquiry.
@NYMom139 Okay, so I think @treenuggets was thinking about an applicant portal where the school supplies you with credentials to an account. Kent definitely doesn’t have this. The other school we applied to did and we actually had to add additional information and upload a picture. I suspect no matter the mode, an email will come on March 10 either with the answer in it or prompting us to go to another site to read the answer.
I don’t know what to tell you, but Kent absolutely supplied us with credentials for a Veracross account. And we did access it.
Didn’t apply so I don’t know about being supplied with info but Kent definitely has a Veracross platform. You can find it under the admissions tab on their website. But @CTMommy is probably right and everyone should just watch their email.
Link for anyone who needs it: https://accounts.veracross.com/kent/portals/login
Despite not ending up applying to Kent - we still get the emails. Here is relevant notification info in todays email:
“On a logistical and programming note, please be reminded that admissions decisions will be available through the Admissions portal on March 10.”
@phantome and @NYMom139 I stand corrected! Kent does have a portal. I did follow the breadcrumbs that @phantome posted, and I was able to get into the site yesterday with the ‘forgot my password’ option. The weird thing is we were NEVER sent a login or email about it. It listed just 1 of my daughter’s interests that she put down on SSAT application site. Hopefully, they will look at the SSAT site for her full list of interests. It would have been nice to have been provided some direction earlier so we could have updated things on the admission portal. Thankfully, all the required application materials are checked off with her application marked as complete! I did just TODAY get an email from them that referenced the app portal, where they say decisions would be placed.
by any chance anyone know if Kent send admitted students packages? thanks!
Our USPS informed delivery has a “Shipping Label Created, USPS Awaiting Item” from Kent, CT. It hasn’t moved yet, though, so it seems like things are still in flux a bit.
