I was trying to send an email with my SSN and State ID to a college official to fix my middle name and ignorantly put in on Imgur forgetting it was a public image share site. I immediately cropped it to only show a line of white but I’m freaking out because someone could have seen it. Am I screwed if someone saw it? The state ID had EVERYTHING about me, including my picture.
I believe you need to specifically click “publish to imgur” for it to go in the public gallery. If you didn’t do that, you should be good.
Okay, the “publish to imgur” is green, so does that mean no one saw it? If someone sees it, can’t they also publish to imgur themselves? I’m not logged in imgur, so is it using my ip or something to grant me viewing/editing permissions? Also, why does it say 8 views? Are those views from me?
Ah I assumed you were a registered user. I think you’re still okay, though. I just signed out of my account and tried uploading a picture and it says “you must be signed in to share on imgur” so I don’t even think it’s an option for you to be in the public gallery. If you refreshed the page a few times that accounts for the 8 views.
